Metadata

Core metadata lives on the root event and nested device, trend, and quality objects.

Device metadata

device.manufacturer, device.model, and device.type identify the producing device class without requiring a global device registry in v0.1.

Trend and quality

Optional trend carries direction (falling, stable, rising, unknown) and optional rate. Optional quality.status communicates validity (valid, questionable, etc.).

Extensions

Vendor-specific fields belong in adapter layers or future extension objects—not as ad-hoc root keys on canonical events. Propose extensions through the RFC process.
